You are spot on scarface101. Group A = group of death. In saying this we can expect without question a top two placing in group B. We have no reason for excuses now after such a landmark and rewarding year at national level. I personally want to see the pressure of expectation and performance to continue. Good luck and Godbless the Azkals for the upcoming SEA Games :)

SEA GAMES 2011: BRUNEI RETURN TO COMPETE AFTER TEN YEARS

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (21 Oct 2011) – Brunei are looking forward to their first game against Timor Leste on 5 November – marking their return to the biennial championship after ten years.

The last time the Sultanate side took part at the SEA Games was back in 2001 in Kuala Lumpur.

Brunei, who only had their ban from football lifted by FIFA in May this year after a two year absence, have been placed in Group B where other than Timor, they will also be up against runners-up Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos and the Philippines.

Towards making sure that they can be competitive for the task ahead, Brunei have formed a new Under-23 side where they have been in training since July.

Datuk Worawi Makudi, the president of the FA of Thailand (FAT) admitted that the team had a mountain to climb to regain the gold medal.

Added Thailand manager Kasem Jariyawatwong said: “We must be at full strength if we are to win the gold medal. We won’t underestimate any team but we are ready to face any team.”

In the meantime, Thailand have announced their 20-man squad for the SEA Games with BEC Tero Sasana striker Ronnachai Rangsiyo leading the way.

The team will play two warm-up games against Songkhla FC on 25 Oct then then against Nepal 31 Oct.

Men’s football at this year’s SEA Games will start on 3 Nov.

    Just found this info
    source: http://www.bworldonline.com/content.php?section=Sports&title=Suzuki-Phils.-rallies-behind-Azkals-U-23-in-SEA-Games&id=40508

Suzuki Phils. rallies behind Azkals U-23 in SEA Games

THE MEN’S National Under-23 Football Team that will see action in the 26th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Indonesia in November got another boost for its campaign as Suzuki Philippines (SPH) has thrown its full support to the team as official sponsor.

Recognizing the standing of football as the most popular sport in the world as well as upholding its commitment “to solidify the thrust of competitive sportsmanship through football gaming in the Philippines,” the company has decided to back the Junior Azkals, SPH said in a statement provided during the official sponsorship agreement signing at the Richmonde Eastwood Hotel in Quezon City yesterday.

“Since football is the most popular sport in the world, Suzuki clearly wants to capitalize on this foundation to be able to build a strong pool of young players that will carry the Filipino flag,” said SPH President Satoshi Uichida in the statement.

The sponsorship agreement is in line with SPH’s other programs for local football which include its support for the Philippine Football Federation (PFF)-Suzuki U-23 National Cup earlier this year and for the country’s homegrown football heroes Chieffy Caligdong, Ian Araneta, Yannick Tuazon, Paolo Pascual and Roel Gener.

With this latest backing, the PFF, the national sports association of football in the Philippines, said it is very excited with the partnership and more determined to do good in the upcoming SEA Games. “We in PFF, appreciate all the efforts of SPH in elevating the sport to higher heights, and we are optimistic all this backing will only merit positive results,” said PFF President Mariano “Nonong” Araneta.

For his part, Philippine Azkals Team Manager Dan Palami said that while the enthusiasm of the players to compete in international tournaments stems from playing for flag and country, sponsorships from various groups are very much welcome, saying “With the belief that is coming from sponsors like Suzuki, it further fuels them (players)... thinking there is tangible support provided for them.”

This year marks the first time in six years that the Philippines is sending a football team in the SEA Games. The last time the country competed in the regional meet was in 2005 where it had only one win to show for. The best finish the Philippines had in SEA Games football was in 1991 when it made it to the semifinals as host.

The 2011 U-23 team is hoping to build on the interest generated, and headway made, by the Senior Azkals in the last year and a half. The team is made up of local talents backed up by at least seven experienced international campaigners, including Azkals members Roland Muller (goalkeeper) and Jason De Jong (midfielder).

re the abs/cbn commercial in the youtube video, this seems to imply that tv coverage starts on 11/11/11. but, check the football schedule:

    3 November 2011: vs Vietnam (16.00 WIB/SUGBK).
    7 November 2011: vs Timor Leste (16.00 WIB/Lebak Bulus).
    11 November 2011: vs Laos (16.00 WIB/Lebak Bulus).
    13 November 2011: vs Myanmar (16.00 WIB/Lebak Bulus).
    15 November 2011: vs Brunei Darussalam (19.00 WIB/Lebak Bulus).

does this mean 40pct of the schedule, including potentially the toughest group stage game against Viet Nam, will NOT be shown?

That's what I heard to...ABS-CBN will only show once the opening ceremony start (Nov 11)...since, football start 1 week early, it is not clear.

I do not know many indonesians abroad, but I am looking for an indonesian restaurant with indonesian cable TV (in the same manner pinoys abroad have TFC) and hopefully, I can order food and watch the game. If there live streaming is available, I will post it here.

Not sure if this will be show in Studio23 but Azkals.com Facebook fanpage members are saying it will be. One thing I'm sure is IBC13 is the official tv of the SEA Games in the Philippines.
