That's probably our heaviest defeat by the senior team since 0-5 vs Turkmenistan (2009 challenge cup qualifiers) and 1-13 vs Indonesia (2002 ASEAN Cup).
For those who saw it, enjoy it (even in defeat)...when was the last time you saw PHI play against a highly profiled top-league club?

Beckham arrived, he played, he scored. Becks playing contract is quite different to most other professional football players. On Tuesday evening the LAG will play another match and the superstar will line up again this time against A_League side Melbourne Victory who have Australian star Harry Kewell in their team.
Everyone should not look at the scoreline and realise this game was just an exhibition match. The Azkals did not field their top team. The first half was quite even and if not for bad luck etc, the Azkals could quite easily had 2 or 3 goals to show for their efforts and made for a much closer second half. It was some poor decision making in the defensive area in the second half which blew away any chance the home side had of obtaining a more favourable result.
The main difference between the two teams was the faster, accurate passing style of the Galaxy which would be expected of a team who play together week in week out. In the post match interviews it was fantastic to hear the LAG players comment on how they enjoyed the hospitality and friendly reception they received while staying in the Philippines.

:-) good game...sure lessons to be learned, but let's not forget the Galaxy players play and train together all year. They for good reason had the advantage. Regardless, it brought attention to the sport and the team...very exciting times for the Philippines.
