From the Filipino Football Blog: (an awesome blog, I might add...)

"New Coach for Philippines Men`s NT
It seems that is the new Philippines head coach for Men`s NT (Azkals) is Edwin Cabalida, head coach of Air Force who won United Football League (UFL) . He come from Dumaguete.

Edsel Bracamonte is the new assistant coach , he is the assistant coach of Air Force and come from Iloilo."

So what do you guys think? To be quite frank, I wasn't buying all the Des Bulpin hype in spite of his frequent visits to the country and was on a "I'll believe it when I see it" state of mind. I'm honestly glad that we've got a more concrete signing in a coach, local or not, and now the team can get down to business preparing for the tournaments later this year.

I don't know about you guys but I'm feeling a bit optimistic. Maybe it's the post-world cup fever... :)

Im with you, and some people are surprised that he lasted this long. Anyway, im not optimistic nor pessimist. Im not sure if the new coach is a permanent solution, but i mean that the PFF should back off a bit and let the new coaches do their thing without too much pressure. They dont have much time, its August already next month, so they got a lot of things to do.

On the other hand, its a positive thing that theyre local guys, and know potential players from all over the country. New potential players from Europe are also keen on suiting up, so if they gather a good squad, then theyll do their thing and qualify for the main tournament.

One other i would like to point out is the new "manager" or should i say private sponsor. He is covering expenses and doing what the PFF are supposed to do, and it is really positive to have someone sponsoring the team and that he has confidence in the team.

    Hi Weilered!

Hm, I haven't heard about the "manager" but I think that's great! I'm glad anyone in the football loving public would just step up and help the team anyway they can.

I'm always optimistic about the team. It's just my nature, I guess. ;) I'm pretty excited, I hope they do well! :D

Read this article, its interesting. You get some info on how serious the manager is, and he wants to do it his way without interference from the PFF, so far its been good.
