The Azkals wearing white, Kuwait wearing blue jerseys.

Philippines is using the 4-5-1 formation, with Phil as the lone striker.

Philippines had two good chances. First the solo effort by Phil Younghusband (blocked by the keeper) and the header by Angel Guirado (bounced on the bar).

Tang ina, wala kasi si shrock at ly , parang 90-10 ang posesion nang bola lahat sa kuwait. Ung midfield natin parang hindi na control ang game they were very deep in defense almost close to the box.
Pero expected naman ung result kuwait is just in another level, if shrock, aly and lucena were there i doubt kung ganun pa rin ang result ng game. Baka makapaglalaro pa tayo ng 442 di kaya kasi ni phil kung sya lang magisa ang striker.

Neil is our man of the match because he was so darn busy! Schrock, Lucena, et. al. may help but its a system issue. We were trying to contain or disrupt Kuwait as Coach Weiss said before. Pero they should contain or disrupt Kuwait deeper in midfield rather than letting their midfielders have free rein to organize their offense while our fullbacks were so far back playing Kuwaiti wingers onside constantly. We were lucky we lost only by 3 goals (that's because the Kuwaitis were always trying to be cute). The only chance we can beat Kuwait here is if it snows.

Etheridge MoM?? with 3 goals past him? He looked pretty ordinary against the kuwaitis, but so did the rest of the azkals especially in the 2nd half. Etheridge did not show the kind of confident dominant presence he usually exudes in his area. You cant blame him, he decided to play safe, maybe because of a weaker back line and of course inexperience against a good quality arab side.. for me the best azkal showing was by guirado, simply because of all the azkals he seemed the least intimidated... he rose well to hit the post in the first half, who knows what the result would be had that gone in

a good lesson for the azkals? I dont know, but i clearly hated watching the 2nd half, as the azkals stamina and confidence and spirit seemed to wilt away, and with wiess seemingly at a loss at making any adjustments (ie. not even a sub till very late).. the azkals seemed to give up after the 2nd goal.. in a way i'm glad the azkals only bled 3 goals. The azkals had opportunities throughout, but then again there is a lack of quality in the flow of the azkals counterattacking moves..mistimed runs, unseen runs, one touch too many or too litle or too heavy.. but there were good chances in the 1st half, especially one that phil should or could have made one more touch around the keeper and buried..

azkals here were simply outclassed, outplayed, outlasted... they have to redeem themselves in the next leg with a better showing, 3 goals down no more sitting back now obviously...

Why were Lucena and Mulders MIA? We could have done with them in the game, especially Mulders at FB.... and will Cagara be joining up with the squad at any time? I too was screaming at Weiss to make some subs but them looking at the bench, we didn't really have any options to tighten things up at the back apart from Gener.... I think the coach get the tactics right (pack the MF, play defensively) but you simply cannot defend on the edge of your own 18-yard box against a far better side... Also when the Azkals did get the ball the only tactic seemed to be to play it long, which is not the best tactic but can work if you have a big target man.... unfortunately, PhilY is not at all this type of player and he was left chasing impossible balls... 2nd leg we really need Aly and Shrocky back, play further up the field, maybe also get Mulders in defence if we can, and play Angel, Ian or Chieffy upfront with PhilY.... the sad thing is when we were 2-0 down I thought we might have a chance in the 2nd leg but I think 3-0 will be too big a mountain to climb.... let's hope the boys can prove me wrong though, after all we won our last game at home 4-0!

from the beginning of the game based on the formation 4-5-1 azkals have intentions to play full defense. we are only hoping to score only on counter attack and PYH/AG have tried to do that many times but kuwait defenders is really good.

arab no. 1 sport is footbal. kuwait have a rich tradition in football dating back from their world cup finals in the 80's. it only shows the experience stacked up against azkals.

im happy that they managed only 3 goals to our team. the 2nd and 3rd goal are defensive lapses on our back four. i hope the coach concentrate on that issues on the 2nd leg.

4-0 against kuwait is a huge task. i hope the football gods will listen to our prayers that azkals could actually do it. nevertheless all the way im sure all supporters will gather up on the 28th.

play hard azkals! go and make us proud!

simonmanila - Mulders sustained a wound on his leg he got in Sri Lanka first leg match. It got infected, and would also caused him to miss a match for his club.

I knew it, many of our these "halfies" players dont have a passion in football. Well, Dan Palami their manager earns alot from the team - fame, endorsement and sponsorhip. kaya he keeps on recruiting this meztiso looks of players. honestly, Simon Greatwhich, the younghusbands, neil etheridge, Anton Del Rosario ( I love his brother Armand, an ex- azkals, really better than Anton) and the others are really into CELEBRITY life... look their twitter talks, wtf... Many people think they are down to earth, they are not they have to be nice because thats their asset but think about this.... people go gaga over them and they are treating their fans as fans only, you get what I mean? like the UFL vs. Azkals they didnt win... because most of the UFL players are REALLY into football with real PASSION not just to play to gain popularity and perks! Hay naku, i dont think our football development in Philippines will be the same with african nations and latin american (they are least developed and developing nations like our country) Ang hirap kasi dito if you have good looks even you are not really good, you have all the opportunity. HOW I WISH OUR HOMELESS TEAM will be our azkal team they play better than AZKALS! they dont have opportunity. Imagine during Homeless World Cup 2010 in Brasil they defeated Argentina, Columbia and Norway also scored against Brasil, (Hello! Those countries are football crazy nations) our homeless team kasi are not pa-cute. They came from nothing, they play with dedication and passion. Very humble a real Filipino who born and raised in this nations.

Not all azkals are pa-cute there just some few who are really into football, nadadamay lang sila nitong mga celebrity status azkals... Like Chieffy Calindog, Misagh Bahadoran, Roel Gener ect. They are into Football.

I am supporting football in our country but I AM NOT an azkal fanatic, i can say many of these fans dont know what are the mechanics of football game, i will bet they dont know what is offside they just know how to shout, My experience in watching live football game in south america is really different, all the fans understand football game unlike here. Whether you have dark or white complexion it doesnt matter. If you have skills you have opportunity.

We have number of GREAT local footballers than these fil-foreigns recruits. They dont have a chance lang.

martharodriguez0000 - I have to blatantly disagree with you. You don't know what you're talking about.

According to a PFF official whom I had personally chatted, he said of the Filipino foreigners in the lineup: They are more passionate than the local Pinoys. The local Pinoys easily get discouraged if they are playing against good team.

About Dan Palami. Him earning earning a lot from the team?! You just have no idea that he was the one who gave the monthly salary of McMenemy of about $1500 weekly. He owns the Global Smartmatic in the UFL.

boy, i have to agree with azkals here. i suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it certainly seems that after a global tryout effort coach weiss is using the best players at his disposal. i also am not so happy with some of the off field celebrity antics, but hey the guys have to do what they can to earn a few pesos. they certainly aren't going to make any money from the ufl until pro football becomes more popular here...
