There's an idea floating out there about further bringing out future football talents into the open. It's just a thought but if brainstormed might have the potential of becoming a sound central national platform for football for both sexes. I'm just bouncing this off a blogsite, it's obviously an idea waiting to be born. In my own opinion it's a thought that deserves a look or something. So I'm going to begin to "pitch" or re-echo...dangle it here in the Azkal house for the Azkals homeheads' perusal.

Let's just say that the current system set up along this line is not entirely efficient, and that maybe the time has come to get back in the drawing boards. How about a CUP or a national league/tournament that would involve all of our country's three main islands. LUZVIMINDA Cup, it's called. Tournaments or Leagues in the three main islands, in Luzon, for example, whose pathways merge in a Luzon Cup or something and eventually culminates out in the LUZVIMINDA Cup every two years.

One year to bust it out in the main islands and enough time to prep for the main cup or "LuzViMinda Champions League". This time hack should also accomodate schedules for other sports endeavors if any. Athlete students will be able to organize their priorities in order given the decent amount of time. More importantly, enough room for organizers to bang heads and put together a simple plan to carry out the concept.

I think it's a hell of an idea, if you ask me. Talk about expanding our pool, a kid from Barangay Gumamugam, Municipality of Panalaron, Bandas City can actually be afforded now a chance to prove his or her skills.

And there's a touch of patriotic fervor to it to. Imagine LUZON, VISAYAS, MINDANAO,(not regional, okay) coming together for this one nationalistic effort of creating a strong national team. It's not impossible, our national flag says LUZVIMINDA did it big style in our history against oppressors of our land.

We don't really have to name it "LuzViMinda" cup if it's too cheesy for everyone. But I think a Luzon Cup champion could hold their own against a Visayas Cup winner. And Mindanao will give both a run for their money.

So, hey, I'm going to try and push for this idea. Maybe sell it to someone who's danced with someone, who's danced with someone, who's danced with someone...up until it gets to Mr Dan da Man or maybe a big-hearted football freak senator somewhere.

LUZVIMINDA Cup. Alab ng puso, sa dibdib mo'y buhay!

good looks, scarface 101, thanks. been looking at the whole concept and they do generalize as a league in the main islands, albeit the endstate is day and night compared too the whole luzviminda champions league concept. i strongly feel that each cup in each main island should be autonomous and prestigious by itself.

scarface101 - the national tournament I think is like the FA Cup in England. All football clubs (FA registered) from different levels battle each other in a knockout match. The undefeated club will take the trophy.

The FA cup is a knock-out tournament all the way to the finals and the undefeated team will win the cup.

The Smart National Clubs Championship has these format:

Round1 (Provincial Elimination): PFF MA's tournament, winner will qualify to next round.
Round2 (Cluster Qualifying round): League Type, single round robin.
Round3 (Regional Qualifying Rounds): format not specified
Round4 (National Final) : Format not specified (looks like a league format).

Although the format is not yet clear enough, this is a good step in the development of Pinoy Futball. Some other forms of tournament/cup should also be organized later.

Sandy's proposal is good for the fact that it will create regional rivalry which will add fuel to the development and promotion of football.

This from jose021581 in another forum:

"I would make it a priority to strengthen local tournaments. This way the federation can evaluate the state of football in a particular area. the reason why football is huge in the big cities is mainly because of exposure brought about by commercial value; where as in the province the only people who take time to promote football are those exposed to the sport. Raw comes with awareness, never with ignorance. We can not rest by depending on our fil-foreign players to always represent our country in international games. We have to make it a point to expose the game of football to everyone, not just the mestizo and the well off. More often than not, good coaching is only available to those who can afford. With that said, If I am the PFF president, I would set-up a plan to give football a sustainable and accessible life in the country. I am sure it will be a long road to success, however, DODONG and JUAN can represent the country competitively in the future"

Thanks sandy! this is to give our local players a chance to shine in the national arena. the idea roots from my experience playing against a current national team member, Kim Relucio, who happens to be the younger brother of my HS coach, Tom Relucio. He was a part of a good team, however, we won the game convincingly. That just goes to show that, although we had good team chemistry we also had good players. Like I said, its just a matter of giving these players the exposure to elevate their game. local tournaments is the way to go for our PFF to identify these new breed of talents.
