I have never been to Panaad nor to the Rizal Memorial but I am really hoping that they pick Panaad as the venue for the World Cup pre-qualifier home game. Based on the recent check they did in Rizal, the pitch was awful and the locker rooms were so small. If they pick Panaad, the government would not spend so much on renovations.

Let it be Panaad...it's a lot closer to where I live ;)

I'm not from Manila, but I'd like to give them Manila a chance to witness an international match by the Azkals.

But I do like also that PFF would give football fans in Mindanao the same previlege, maybe in Davao.

You're right admin. Sana may stadium din sa Mindanao na pwede paglaruan ng Azkals para alternate na lang pag may home game. Luzon (Rizal Memorial Stadium), Visayas (Panaad Stadium) and Mindanao.... :)

suggestion.. just to kickstart some local competition.. Get the best football team from Bacolod FA, vs the best in NCR FA. Then let them play a two-leg tie in paanaad and rizal.. who wins in agregate gets to host the PFF's next international match. But look at the PFF wikipedia... seems to me there's a whole lot of FA's in the philippines.. more FA's than actual viable football clubs???? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_Football_Federation

Another suggestion: First half sa Panaad, second half sa Rizal.

    Yan fair! Hehehe...

futbolero, unfair is an overstatement. Azkals hold their practice in Manila, and they are always visible to the fans as well, like doing mall tours etc...

I think PANAAD is the best pitch... plane/ferry tickets are way cheaper if your from the south like iloilo, cebu and mindanao... And also the whole city celebrates after the game closing a major street to accomodate parties for the azkals....

Rizal Memorial, it's time to bring Azkals to Manila and having the game played at Rizal is not just memorable but will be historic as well. It will also give the spotlight to Rizal Memorial and as a wake up call for the government to upgrade our sports facilities.

Admin, seeing them in their practice and mall tours is very different from seeing them playing against other nation. :)

For me, Panaad is at the moment THE only qualified venue to stage an international FIFA match that has the standard pitch and facilities. Even so, it is still at a low standard for a FIFA international match. Unless they will fully refurbish the RMS in time for the FIFA inspection, then share the Manilenyos and the rest of Luzon the beautiful game they are craving for... But for now, Panaad is THE top of the list, plus, the fans there have PASSION!!!

Rizal holds 30k? Panaad 10k? seems like Rizal would be the better choice from a commercial perspective. Does anyone know if Panaad was sold out last time?

PFF is also considering the cost of staging match in Rizal and Panaad. They spent P4 million for staging Mongolia match last February. P4 million ncluded xpenses of #Azkals camp,d transfer of lights, rehab of pitch.D PFF will make an estimate cost of staging it in Rizal tom

Rizal Mem Stadium safe for spectators after undergoing renovations during PSC chair Harry Angping's term, says PFF president Nonong Araneta. But PFF still has not decided on venue of #Azkals-Sri Lanka match on July 3. They have until April 15 to decide.

I can't wait for April 15. I need to know which flight to book...I am still hoping they hold it in Panaad though. ;)

as a home of the azkals for the last 5 to 7 years, nung indi pa pinapansin ang football team at ang laro in the phl where iloilo and Negros has an open arms to accept because of the football fanatics province. for economics growth of the province, to decongest manila because everything is in manila sports, economy, power etc that leaves the provinces to rot....that is why i chose panaad...
however for brotherhood sake and if panaad will not be chosen again because a lot of things especially from the new football fans (im sorry but sometimes it is so absurd and foolish) that dont understand and play football, then i also chose RMC, para madevelop, renovate to a bigger seating capacity both panaad and RMC, but and the big but, the next venue will be held on the other cities like Cebu, dumaguete, davao, zamboanga, baguio, the province of leyte or those who have a sports complex that is better than RMC football pitch and stadium.why most people who do not know that theres a lot of sport complex that is way better than RMC.and manila doesnt represent anything for the province and spread the football in the phl....

I been in the Panaad Game with the Azkals & Mongolia, to make it on another adventure I voted for Rizal Memorial Stadium as the venue for the upcoming World Cup Asian Qualifying Game between Azkals & Sri Lanka by the 3rd of July ...

Rizal is the logical choice as it is bigger and if the stadia fills up will bring more much needed revenue and also have a bigger impact to the snowball effect football has had for the last year. As the corporate heads are in Manila, Rizal is by far the the better option to stage the event. From the footballing point of view as the Azkals never played on that field official matches before will take the home advantage away and only the fans could make up for it. Its long overdue to moove on and grow!!!!

    Still no decision.

Still no final venue for Azkals' home game vs Sri Lanka

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) said they will wait for the Department of Public Works and Highways' (DPWH) report regarding the structural integrity of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex before deciding whether to use the historic venue for the Azkals' home game against Sri Lanka on July 3.

"We have all decided to wait for the DPWH to come up with their evaluation regarding the structural integrity of the venue. If the DPWH gives their approval, there is a strong chance that the Azkals' home game will be held at RMSC," said PFF president Mariano "Nonong" Araneta after their meeting with Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) officials.

Sri Lanka will host the first game on June 29, while the Azkals will play the second leg of its World Cup Asian qualifying round at home on July 3. The winner of the home-and-away series will advance to play Kuwait.

There are still unconfirmed reports that cracks were found at the grandstand bleachers that could endanger the Azkals' legion of fans, who would want to watch and cheer for them when they face Sri Lanka.

The PFF wants to hold the Azkals' home game at RMSC, which can accommodate 15,000 to 20,000 fans. The last big football event the RMSC hosted was the 1991 Manila Southeast Asian Games finals between Indonesia and Thailand.

"We have to determine the structural integrity of the venue because in 1995, the DPWH came up with a recommendation that the RMSC should undergo major repairs after the strong 1990 earthquake. We know former PSC chairman Harry Angping has made renovations, but we need to still get the DPWH's opinion to ensure the safety of the people," added Araneta.
The DPWH inspection is expected to be made within this week, with the report to be finished by April 14 or a day before the PFF deadline of naming the Azkals' home game venue for the opening round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City is being eyed as an alternative venue for the Philippine national team's home game. Panaad was where the Azkals played their first home game against Mongolia on February 9 in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup. - KY, JVP, GMA News
