Last year, the varsity teams from our school here in the Manila area went to Singapore to play against similar teams from a variety of countries including thailand, malaysia, indonesia, and of course singapore. this included teams at 8-under, all the way up to high school age. Our teams did very well with a gold for 8-under, and other medals for other age groups as well.

I keep hearing how Iloilo and other areas are a "hotbed" for football, and "the area where the best players come from". I would like to put these assertions to the test, and see if there is a possibility for our players to go south for a tournament pre-christmas. does anyone know if there is a good pre-christmas tournament on in this area where we could "test" our boys? If anyone has a suggestion do let me know so i can investigate further!

    thanks...

Yes, there will be Alaska Cup held every November in Manila. Visayas and Mindanao teams go to Manila to compete. I went to one Alaska Cup in 2007. One Iloilo kids team was beating NCR clubs, not sure If they won their category though.

thanks for the replies. we have participated in the alaska cup before, but not in 2007 the period you have reported on. in fact, I was wondering more in the mid december time frame... the singapore trip happened last year on december 18-21 or thereabouts. the boys went after school ended. does anyone know if there is a tournament in the south (iloilo, bacolod, cebu, davao, etc) around this time? our boys are normally out by mid december...
