The country's first artificial football turf located in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

Filipino football fans need not wait any longer for top quality turf to be made available for the public.
A brand new football field will soon be available for football enthusiasts to enjoy at the Bonifacio Global City. Turf@BGC is the first public football field in the country to use the Limonta SoccerPro Max S. In football, FIFA Final Round competitions, as well as UEFA matches can only be played in turfs with the 2-star certification. The field makes use of the same materials as those fields that carry the FIFA 2-star certification- the highest level of FIFA certification.
According to Audris Romualdez, Managing Director of E-Sports RK International, the supplier of the artificial turf, the field will soon be ready to the playing public. But what will facilitate its readiness is actual use, that’s why it’s imperative that teams be allowed to test the field.
“The Azkals and CF Madrid have already tested the field. They love it. There are only three artificial football fields in the country. The only commercial one is this one (Turf@BGC),” said Romualdez. The project started in September, with the installation team needing to ensure that it is installed in level ground. Although E-sports had to suffer uncooperative weather, the turf was finally finished in January 3. The all-weather turf now gives football players the luxury of playing whenever they want.
“The players complain with natural grass is that when it rains, it can destroy the pace. It’s easy to shovel rubber granules over unleveled area. With grass, it takes about two to three days to play again. With turf, in 30-40 minutes, you can play again,” shares Romualdez.
Romualdez adds, “Limonta is one of the five FIFA-preffered producers (of artifical turf). It passed all the standards. They really like it. If you look at the blade, there’s a spine in every blade. It protects the turf from bending.”UFL events pepper the Turf@BGC schedule, as the football league’s 2nd division are scheduled to play most games at the venue. — RAF/JVP, GMA News
