Hi Frederick, the title is a bit overhyped haha, I was disappointed with the way the Azkals played. Still we defeated them though.

Disappointing gameplay from FC Pilipinas since they are not used to freezing weather so it was quite expected that they would not play well in Mongolia.

It is not an exaggeration. I kinda expected Mongolia to trash our team at least 3-0 given the circumstances surrounding the Azkals' arrival here. I was worried for our boys upon seeing their arrival here hungry, very tired and without their luggage. They (Mongolians) had everything in their favor and yet our boys held them to only two goals and managing to put one in theirs. They had their game preparations here. They're used to the weather, the altitude and they had their unruly home crowd egging them on. They even had their own President watching the game from the stands! Even with all my wrap around clothes, I was still cold at the stands just watching the game. The Mongolians were crushed alright and credit that to the big hearts of our boys. (Reminded me of Pacquiao when he took on Margarito) They never gave up! I hear pundits and all sorts of asinine comments from blogs and news feedback about our boys performing at less than par. Well I'll only have this say: Come to Mongolia and play football here in freezing weather two days after you arrive. Cut our boys some slack and give them all the encouragement they need. I think they played superbly well.

Very well said. We could use more people like you. I'm not as knowledgable in the game as much as the other members here but I applaud what you have said and how you've analyzed the match. After all, you know more what the team were up against. It makes me appreciate how the azkals played. Sa dedication pa lang nila and the pride they are giving us will make u a fan. But of course, while watching the game you cant help but be a little dispointed of how they played bec they could hve done things way better. Thanks frederick bec at least now i see it from where you're standing. Coming into the match in a state where they were in and to brave the conditons the game will be played...win or lose, lalo na sa mga locals natin who wre not use to cold weather...it must have been pure heart.

Thanks. Our Azkals have been tested by fire and ice in this place. Just like what PNOY said when he congratulated them. We were so happy for them when they "lost" if only because it was the Mongolian team who blew their chances. I know how Mongolians regard the cold weather around here. They don't pay much attention to it. Just like the Eskimos being at home in the Arctic. For us, its a never ending battle to keep warm. The reason we're looking forward to the brief summer(May-Oct)if only to forget the cold for a little while. The Azkals should do well in Myanmar. I know so. And since they're the only ones we've got by way of football in the PH, let's give them all our support.

My photo below appeared in the Philippine Star today. I had a different one appear in the Inquirer too and I'm very HAPPY about it. My family, especially my two little girls, also had their share of 15 minutes of fame when we were seen on two TV channels in the PH following the Azkals around. We are still on cloud nine over it. I know we will go back to obscurity after this and we have the Azkals to thank for a memorable week of football in Mongolia. GO AZKALS!!!!!! GIVE 'EM HELL IN MYANMAR!!!!

not just the weather frederick but also it's a big factor that four key members of the azkals were not in the game naming etheridge, chris greatwich, de jong, and gier. if all azkals were present, i dont know if the mongolians could have scored then... but even they were not coomplete, the remaining azkals did their job well... but note that the first goal of the mongolians was clearly offside but was not called by the ref....

I heard that our AZKALS got their ass kicked in JAPAN!!! In two games 12-1 against a college team... That is so sad. Thats our national team against College players. I have been to Japan and I played soccer there before-those Japs are damn good in soccer, their passing game is amazing!!! When i was in High school here in the Philippines, we play against college teams and we beat them easily. Our team is composed of 2 Brazilians,2 nigerians,1 dutch, a german, some koreans, some japanese and some Filipinos (me and two other guys). We beat, Lasalle Lipa 14-0, UP Los Banos 6-0, Letran College 2-0, and other colleges by 10 or more goals. We didn't lose a game in the Philippines, but when we went to Japan, we only got 3rd place. We loss against 2 Japanese high school teams and each of those teams beat us by 4 goals. I'm telling you man, they are so good in their passing. I have seen our passing game (ball control is so poor). What I'm getting at here is that, the AZKALS should practice their ball control and they need to communicate more on the field. Hey, I am 100% Filipino and Im proud to be one, I just want our team to become better. If we can only play the way SPAIN played or Barcelona plays, the AZKALS will be a team to be reckon with. Look at their passing game (those short, crisp and accurate passes won SPain the world cup) All the best to our AZKALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey is mongolia good? Im not very knowledgeable in soccer but i heard they arent even a competitive team.

So i figured that we would have blasted through them easily but it looked like we actually struggled a bit.

mongolia isn't that good. in fact they only beat guam in the international level which is one of the weakest team in fifa rankings... and we're the second team they beat... it's sad to think about it but you have to consider the factors why we were beaten by them... first, the weather which was -5 degrees... second, the azkals were not complete... they have their four key players missed the game... third, they are not used in playing in the artificial grass which obviously affects the ball control of the team...
